When your stations appear in the NextRadio app, here’s what happens:
- Listeners tune in and get a great visual experience – right on their phones
- Sales creates new revenue opportunities from in-app advertising campaigns
- Programming has an additional platform to promote their shows and talent
But stations need to look their best in NextRadio (and in the connected car!) And broadcast audio must be 100% sync’d to what’s showing up.
That starts with you. And we know you’re busy. So……
4 Steps – 20 minutes – Log on to TagStation and let’s get this done
(Note: All settings must be completed before you save them.)
Check alignment of audio and visuals
Album art should show up when a song plays. And a tasty pic of a Big Mac when the McDonald’s spot runs. If a station’s audio is on delay for any reason, everything can get jumbled up. Then listeners get confused, and salespeople get unhappy. We’ve seen stations that are off by 10, 20, even 30 seconds. So let’s make sure your alignment is spot-on. Start here:
Make sure the station’s Twitter handle is current and correct
A station’s most popular Tweets show up in NextRadio’s Newsfeed. And since Programming really likes the brand awareness that comes from those Tweets, let’s double-check that all handles are up-to-date.
Grab somebody in Programming or Marketing and verify formats, logos, call letters and schedules
What shows up in the NextRadio app signals to listeners what the station is all about. It’s not only a good idea to make sure your formats and station IDs are clearly displayed in the app, it’s also easy to do. Go to the same page as in Step 2, double-check the settings, then have a look. Now’s the time to make any changes you weren’t told about. And maybe show your teammates how to make updates, too.
Set – but don’t forget
After completing Step 3, everything should be hunky-dory. Inside the NextRadio app, station Tweets should be a-twittering. Album art should show up while songs play. Home Depot stuff should show up when Home Depot ads air.
From here on out, it’s all a matter of maintenance. (We know.) Look, we’re not saying it’s a daily thing. More like a monthly thing. And again, takes about 20 minutes. Maybe less.
